The power of community: Why WordPress is more than just code

Since we attended WordCamp Finland as gold sponsors last Friday, I want to share my thoughts on the WordPress community and explain how it has played an essential role in making WordPress the popular platform it is today.

This community is the heartbeat of WordPress, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a sense of belonging through community events. It encourages active participation and welcomes newcomers with open arms – whether you’re a seasoned developer or a novice blogger, it’s easy to become a part of this ecosystem. So, the next time you publish a blog post or create a website using WordPress, remember you are part of a remarkable community.

There are many tech communities out there. But while some of them may feel transient or one-off, the WordPress community is vibrant and enduring. It thrives year after year, uniting individuals from all around the world who are passionate about open-source technology.

Giving back to the community
Take us as an example. We are a company employing over 60 people and serving countless clients from different industries. Despite benefiting immensely from the WordPress platform throughout many years, we’ve never had to pay a cent for it. This demonstrates how the WordPress community has a spirit of generosity and giving back.
We have to give our thanks to the volunteers who have put hundreds of hours into developing the open-source software, themes, and plugins that we all love. At Evermade, this is done by attending WordPress meetups, organizing events, and, of course, publishing open-source projects. Supporting the community financially or through contributions is a way for us to express gratitude and ensure the continuous growth and development of WordPress.
